#NJLGDebate: Senator Diane Allen Echoes Trump’s Fear-Mongering and Dog-Whistling Toward Immigrant Communities

NEWARK — Senator Diane Allen’s dangerous vilification of immigrant families is yet another example of just how out-of-touch the Ciattarelli-Allen campaign is with New Jersey. Senator Allen and Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli continue to embrace false, Trump-style narratives about our immigrant communities, spreading misinformation and making our communities less safe.

On the record:

[27:03] Asked if she voted for Trump in 2020: “I did. I did. And it’s not because I thought Donald Trump was a sterling example of humanity. It was because I really was afraid that Biden was going to be tearing this country apart. I mean, right now look at all these people with COVID who are coming across the border, and it scares me. They’re put on buses, I suspect some of them are coming up to New Jersey — not a good idea. [But] the people pulled over from the border who are carrying illegal guns or drugs, or whatever. So there’s a lot of things going on that I didn’t want to see go on, and that was the reason that I voted for Trump.”
